Bruce Campbell Answers 8 Questions About ASH VS. EVIL DEAD

Geek icon Bruce Campbell is having a year to remember. When he’s not on a cross-country tour of comic book conventions or taking over local news programs, Campbell is hosting Last Fan Standing on CONtv and attempting to raise funds for a second season through Kickstarter.

On top of everything else, Campbell is starring in Ash vs. Evil Dead, a new TV series on Starz in which he reprises his role as Ashley J. Williams from The Evil Dead and Army of Darkness for the first time in twenty three years! Campbell is reuniting with director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and former Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless for a new adventure as Ash once again faces the Deadites having spent the three decades running away from his responsibilities as the Chosen One.

Earlier this week, Campbell visited Nerdist HQ in sunny Burbank, California to team up with our very own Jessica Chobot for the special report above! Campbell discusses why the new Evil Dead story is happening on television instead of film, tells us how it felt to be Ash again, and explains how Ash has changed in the decades since we last saw him in Army of Darkness.

Campbell also touches upon the discarded attempts to revive the Evil Dead movie franchise for Ash, and he indicates that some of those elements have come back for the TV series. Additionally, Campbell teases the new Deadite menace, and hints at a longer future for Ash vs. Evil Dead on television before revealing the character from his past whom he would most like to revisit. It’s the oldest of old school characters, but we would love to see it happen!

Ash vs. Evil Dead hits Starz on Saturday, October 31.

Evil Dead fans, share your thoughts about Campbell’s return to the franchise in the comment section below!
