Brooklyn Mural Shows TMNT as Their Renaissance Counterparts

I have been a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since the original cartoon premiered. I went through a phase where I tried to consume as much of them as I could. Toys, video games, the original comics, anything I could get my hands on was where my allowance was going.

It’s always awesome to find a fan of something you really enjoy take fandom one step further and get creative with it. Artist Owen Dipple has done just that. He’s created a mural in Brooklyn, NY that depicts Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael as the Renaissance painters they were named after. Here are two great shots from the mural:

This is amazing, and I wish I had even a small portion Owen’s talent. The best I could do is “Stick figure holding a stick” as my interpretation of Luke Skywalker.

Hold on a second. If these were REALLY the “OG” ninjas, shouldn’t all their masks be red? I mean, if we’re going to get technical here…

You can check out more of Owen’s artwork at his official website here.

What do you guys think? Which of YOUR favorite Renaissance painters do you think make better ninjas? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below.
