BOTH SIDES Art Show Opens July 17 at Gallery 1988 in LA

Los Angeles-based readers! Looking for something to do this coming Friday? Why not head over to G1988 (West) and check out the opening of their newest exhibit, Both Sides. The exhibit will feature a collection of screenprinted works from artists Dan Mumford and Jeff Boyes that are inspired by classic heroes and villains throughout pop culture. They are not the only two bringing their work to the world through Both Sides, though. The show will also include pieces from Ashton Gallagher, Chet Phillips, Clark Orr, Dave Quiggle, Rockets Are Red, Ryan Brinkerhoff and Sam Gilbey. Take a look at a few of the pieces for yourself in the photo gallery down below.

If such captivating pieces of art, like Dan Mumford’s rendition of The Bride facing off against O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill, still isn’t enough to entice you, Mumford himself is also coming in from The UK for the opening. The artist will be there to meet with attendees, talk about his work, and maybe smile for a picture or two. Personally, I feel the Robocop piece is enough to want to see the rest of his work in person, but it is the impromptu cross-country trip to do so that makes it more difficult. If you can’t make it out to opening night though, the installation will be at G1988 (West) until August 8, so there are more chance to get out and see it.

Both Sides will open this Friday night, July 17, from 7-10 PM at G1988 (West), 7308 Melrose Ave, in Los Angeles.

What do you think of the pieces we’ve seen? Planning on going to the opening? Let us know in the comments below!
