Blizzard Announces New WORLD OF WARCRAFT Expansion, LEGION

Say goodbye to your free time because Blizzard announced Legion, World of Warcraft‘s sixth expansion, today at Gamescom. The expansion will throw players onto The Broken Isles–a continent that was mentioned in Warcraft III, but now it will be playable for the first time. This, of course, means that the evil warlock Gul’dan will return, and he’ll be up to even more mischief this time around. The story will pick up directly where Warlords of Draenor left off, with a little bit of backstory being given on some of the characters and classes highlighted in the expansion. The video below should give you a little more insight on where everything currently stands in WoW lore.

Players will square off against an army of demons while traveling through the Tomb of Sargeras, and will finally gain access to the Emerald Nightmare, a darker sector of the game’s Emerald Dream area. Additionally, Dalaran will be returning to the main player city hub, along with Alleria (yay Michele Morrow!) and Turalyon, which should surely resonate with the truly diehard Warcraft fans. But that’s just the start of what’s to be expected in Legion. Here are some of the other new features and items to come:
  •  The level cap has been increased to 110
  •  New dungeons and raids
  •  A New PvP Honor System
  •  A level boost to 100 for new players
  •  The now playable Demon Hunter class, which is equipped with a double jump and other advanced combat maneuvers.
  •  Class Order Halls
  •  New Artifact Weapons, with Ashbringer and Doomhammer both making returns.

So there you have it, World of WarCraft: Legion is set to release sometime in 2016, with a beta slated for later this year. I still find it a bit weird that this announcement was made during Gamescom instead of Blizzcon, but that doesn’t diminish the excitement levels surrounding Legion by any stretch.

Are you pumped about the future of World of WarCraft. If you’ve fallen off your WoW grind, is this the expansion that will have you logging back on? Carry your thoughts down to the comments below.
