Disney Announces a BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Live Concert with Zooey Deschanel

Last year’s remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast proved that there’s a lot of life left in the tale as old as time. And while the animated classic has already gone to Broadway, Disney’s taking the musical to the Hollywood Bowl in May.

Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle, told us this was in the works in 2016, but now it’s official. Via Entertainment Weekly, Disney has announced Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert as a special two-night event, with several familiar faces and voices performing the classic songs by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman. The show is also confirmed to feature “Evermore,” a new song written by Menken and Tim Rice for the remake. The other songs created for the live-action Beauty and the Beast may also be performed.

New Girl star Zooey Deschanel will portray Belle, while The Voice‘s Anthony Evans has been cast as her Beast. Taye Diggs and Rebel Wilson are the inspired choices for Gaston and LeFou, respectively. Additionally, Jane Krakowski will co-star as Mrs. Potts, alongside Kelsey Grammer as Lumiere.

The concert will feature a mixture of the live performers, dancers, and clips from the film as well as digital effects and “special guest artists.” Disney Concerts ran a similar event for The Little Mermaid in 2016, which cast Wilson as the sea witch, Ursula.

Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl will take place on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 16.
