In just a few days, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters with the latest chapter in the saga. As the cast makes the press rounds, one of the biggest stars is also taking some questions. BB-8, the adorable droid who made his debut in The Force Awakens, was recently interviewed by a few young Star Wars fans. And these kids were less interested in spoilers and more eager to find out what the droid thought about life in a galaxy far, far away.
Via Entertainment Weekly, BB-8’s binary bleeps were roughly translated by People Magazine deputy editor JD Heyman for their joint segment. Surprisingly, the topics kept coming back to two wildly different characters: Chewbacca and Darth Vader. BB-8 said that Chewbacca is his choice for a pet, although we suspect that the Wookiee would object to that characterization. Fortunately, BB-8 has no arms for Chewie to tear off! BB-8 also noted that he can fully understand the language of the Wookiees.
It’s amazing how emotive BB-8 is, even within the context of this promo appearance. Somehow, we suspect that BB-8 will be around long after the current trilogy is finished. Although in about ten to twenty years, he’ll probably have to contend with a new droid model that’s even cuter than he is. Someone should ask R2-D2 how he felt when that happened.
