Bart Simpson Becomes Harry Potter in This Most Magical of Pop Culture Mash-ups

We’d all like to see more Harry Potter in the world, but nobody’s quite sure what form a new Hogwarts story should take. Well, we’ve got an idea: What if we were to reboot Harry Potter as an animated series, and have Bart Simpson play the Boy Who Lived? “Ay caramba,” you say? Well, don’t have a cow–you might not feel that way after hearing the real Bart sub in for the world’s most famous boy wizard… especially when we also add a little Animaniacs into this voiceover potion.

Host Rob Paulsen was joined on the latest episode our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons by fellow voice actor Nancy Cartwright, who has been playing Bart Simpson since Ronald Reagan was in the White House. In this magical clip, Paulsen and Cartwright recreated the scene from Harry Potter in which Hagrid first tells a young Harry that he is really a wizard. Paulsen filled in for the big lovable Hagrid as his Animaniacs‘ character Dr. Otto Scratchansniff, which was an apt choice since Cartwright used to voice Mindy on the show.

Bart and Harry do share a lot in common. They are both good kids at heart, but often find themselves in trouble because they like to break the rules, and each of them has a less capable friend with vibrantly colored hair. The one big difference between them: Bart absolutely would have been sorted into Slytherin. Much to his delight.
