Aziz Ansari and Eric Wareheim Made a Kanye Music Video

Rather than invest his time in making music videos, Kanye West has chosen to just keep releasing The Life of Pablo updates. But that’s ok, because we’ve got Big Bud and Lil Bud (Eric Wareheim and Aziz Ansari, respectively) to fill the void.

The Master of None co-stars have just released an unofficial music video for Kanye’s notorious track, “Famous”—the one that inspired Taylor Swift’s empowered Grammy speech. Wareheim and Ansari traipse about Italy in the three minute-clip. After a tasteful black-and-white sequence of a dapper Ansari riding a bike, the duo dance in plazas and flower fields, eat pasta and gelato, and even hump cars. It’s hilariously overwrought, as should be expected.

Wareheim, half of Tim & Eric and the mind behind such startling music videos as Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor” and Flying Lotus’s “Parisian Goldfish/Dance Floor Dale,” directed the video. He also directed the unaired CBS Big Bud Lil Bud pilot that inspired Master of None. It’s a campy four-minutes of sitcom satire that’s entirely unlike the successful Netflix series, but somewhere in that pile of bananas they found a nugget of brilliance. In case you haven’t seen it yet:

The Buds’ video is an excellent representation of the melodrama that has been The Life of Pablo. Still, it doesn’t quite hold up to the mighty precedent set by Zach Galifianakis in his unofficial video for Kanye’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” It was so good, it seems, that its original form has evaporated from the internet; only skewed and muted versions remain. Hopefully you got to see it in its original beauty.

Let us know what you think of the new video in the comments below.
