Another OK Go Video Extravaganza

OK Go… well, they’ve done it again. First came the treadmills, then the Rube Goldberg thing, and now they’ve done an interactive video for “All is Not Lost” that kinda defies description.

But you need to see it a specific way. First, you need Google Chrome — that’s a prerequisite. Then you go to allisnotlo.st, and you type in a message, anything you want. Then it loads, you click “GO,” and see what the band, with dancers from Pilobolus, came up with. It’s got people in unitards, it opens up a lot of tiny windows, people spell out your message… let’s call it unique.

This feature explains the project, which is intended as a message for the people of Japan:

And here’s a Making Of-style trailer:

This is the video without the HTML5 stuff. But, trust me, you’re going to want to see it in the fully interactive Google Chrome version:

My message was “Satan Eats Cheese Whiz”. Weird Al fans will understand. That was pretty cool seeing it all spelled out. Another home run for OK GO, and Pilobulus – amazing.

  2. Rob Kuhn says:

(early morning) (men in unitards) / new technology = mind blown

  3. Jodi says:

You can also see this video in 3-D on the Nintendo 3DS and it is STUNNING!

  4. Charles says:

Fantastic. I love OK Go video’s so much. They always out do themselves. I’m sure they are on the list of future podcast guest’s and I look forward to that fully interactive episode.

  5. Tzvi says:

    beautiful. human beings are beautiful.

  6. PapaFrita says:

Ah, I see- it’s not just an OK Go website, it’s a team-up with Google.

  7. PapaFrita says:

What HTML5 feature does Chrome have that Firefox 4, Safari 5, etc don’t?

  8. Mike says:

    Holy kaleidoscopes, Batman!

Definitely another home run for these guys! The windows/layers themselves moving was a bit distracting but overall well worth the html5 shenanigans.

  9. Emily says:

This is great, I went and checked it out without really knowing what it was going to be and put my message as “The water in the forest is the River” (couldn’t put in ‘only’: it was too long). Seeing that was so fantastic.

  10. Amanda says:

Amazing! Coincidentally, before I even knew this was a message to the people of Japan, I typed in the Japanese phrase, “Shikata ga nai” (it can’t be helped).

  12. Ryan says:

“The Ckae is a lie.” Works so freakin’ well with this.

  13. DonB says:

Very fun, though a minor suggestion? When loading is complete, maybe have it say ‘Ok, Go’?
