After eight years, Cartoon Network’s genre-changing Adventure Time has come to an end with a finale that rocked fans to the core.
Minor spoilers for the last episode of Adventure Time follow.
Many fans have long loved the idea of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline officially becoming a couple, and they finally got the moment they’ve been waiting for. As the two tearfully embrace in the finale, they then kiss, and you could practically hear the cheers of “Bubbline” fans everywhere.
“[Their relationship] is set up enough by now that it needs a conclusion to feel satisfying,” said Adventure Time showrunner Adam Muto about the scene in a recent interview with Polygon.
