A Book for All Cat Lovers: Nekojita

The technical internet term to type in is “derp” if you are on a Google hunt for something to entertain yourself with in the middle of a work day. Add “cat” to the search bar and you’re almost guaranteed to find a cornucopia of adorable pictures of feline friends sticking their tongues out. But if you, like me, are not always sitting right at a computer and able to pull up these lighthearted images at a moment’s notice, don’t worry—you are not out of luck. A Japanese publisher has collected a clowder of cats with their tongues out and is releasing them in book form for your consumption. Here’s a look at the cover:

nekojita

(Did you know that a group of cats is called a clowder? I had forgotten but am now overjoyed that Google reminded me.)

The book is being published by JAST or J-List in Japan, premier publisher of dating-sims and visual novels. The book is sadly out of stock right now, but if you think that I haven’t set an alert to track its availability then I clearly have not made my love of cats with their tongues out clear enough. The book does not seem to be available in English translation, but I’m fine with that. Just give me all the cats with their tongues out.

You can find the book for order here, and I’m sure you will want to get on the waiting list right alongside me. While we wait, please tweet me pictures of your cat with his or her tongue sticking out. It is the absolute best kind of Twitter interaction imaginable.
