Zack Snyder Spills Some BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Beans

On Saturday, Yahoo! hosted a live Q&A with director Zack Snyder and actors Henry Cavill and Amy Adams in advance of this Tuesday’s release of Man of Steel on Blu-ray and DVD. In the 75 minute event, hosted by director, host, and world-renowned comic book aficionado Kevin Smith, all sorts of questions were posed to the makers of the movie, but the thing on everybody’s minds and lips and keyboards was, of course, news about Batman vs Superman, or whatever that movie ends up being called.

It will, as we know, feature Cavill returning as the Last Son of Krypton and Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, and is slated for a 2015 release, but what nobody knew was what the story would be, exactly, nor how the two characters would interact. It seems, according to Snyder, the two characters will not get on like gangbusters right away. “The fun of the idea is to be able to play with that relationship,” he said “Whether they fight and become friends, or whether they’re friends and they fight…. Of course, some physical conflicts [will be involved].”

He also tells us that Lex Luthor will be involved in the proceedings and that he’ll relish drawing the public’s attention to the “alien” nature of Superman. Also discussed was the highly controversial choice in Man of Steel for Superman to [SPOILERS] kill General Zod at the end. Snyder says that this decision will factor heavily in the follow up. So calm down everyone who are as up in arms as people can be.

I think Ellie was working for the Devil’s Hand the whole time. She, being the most educated character, is the one who found out that Toledo Conway had children and she pretended to be into bands in order to get close to Mikey. I suspect she’s the one who convinced Mikey to start wearing his father’s ‘cut’. And is it any coincidence that Mikey just HAD to go out and see bands on the night he died?

What I don’t understand is why she’s helping Jake. Maybe she’s a triple agent for the FBI tasked with bringing down the Devil’s Hand so old Tricky Dick and J Edgar can flatten Dead End and put a secret internment camp there for suspected ussr spies!

Didn’t superman kill Zod in the original movies? He took away his powers and threw him down a crystal shaft.

  3. Chris says:

“[SPOILERS] kill character name” probably doesn’t cut it, if you’re bothering to go through the effort. I don’t particularly mind, but my eyes had already read the next three words before my mind registered that I should stop reading, so might be worth drawing it out a little bit more next time or tagging the beginning of the sentence.

I love John Barrowman… I just watched most of Torchwood. That said – if I had to list every actor I can think of and then put them in order of how much I would l like them to play Batman, Barrowman would be very near the bottom.

  5. jb says:

Yeah, Affleck will be fun. Still think that John Barrowman would have been the perfect Batman though.

  6. T_ says:

I can’t wait to see Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader…(not kidding at all).
“Affleck ‘ROCKED’ in PHANTOMS!” and he did…I loved him as Daredevil and think he will wear both costumes (Wayne and Batman) well.
