You Can Now Race MARIO KART Tracks in GRAND THEFT AUTO Thanks to This Mod

Grand Theft Auto V players whose preferred platform is PC have the benefit of seemingly endless mods that enhance the gameplay experience (Chop the dog driving The Mystery Machine, anyone?). The latest mod to make the rounds is a mash-up with Mario Kart, and it’s kind of blowing us away.

A modder named MrVicho13 took the entire Yoshi Valley course (originally from Mario Kart 64, but he used the Mario Kart 8 version as source material here) and put it in the game, so for the first time in Mario Kart history, you can now drive a car that you stole from an innocent man that you shot in the head with a stolen gun.

YouTube user DayL made a video of him driving on the course above, and the level of visual accuracy is unreal. That’s because MrVicho13 used textures that were ripped directly from Mario Kart 8, so what you see isn’t an interpretation of the game’s graphics: it’s the actual graphics from the original game. All that’s missing is the music, green shells bouncing everywhere, and the giant spinning egg near the end of the course.

This is great, but we’re disappointed that he didn’t make a cooler course instead, like Toad’s Turnpike or the beloved Rainbow Road. Well, he still might, as MrVicho13 said that “new maps are coming very soon.”

If you’re a PC GTA V player, head here to download the mod and try it out for yourself. If not, check out the link anyway to see more gameplay videos.
