You Can Know the Future and Save Sasquatches, Says This Candidate

Presidential candidates often make bold statements that the voting public knows they won’t ever be able to deliver on. But there’s bold, and then there’s Basiago bold. As in Andy Basiago, a lawyer from Seattle who believes that the CIA should be more transparent, that government spending should be better accounted for, and that Edward Snowden should be pardoned. Oh, and he also believes that he is a time traveler who has been to Mars and that Sasquatch deserves equal protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Basiago’s bold claims, which were recently reported on by Gizmodo and are available for full perusal on his website, center in large part around his being a test subject used by the “Project Pegasus” program that was launched in secret by DARPA in the 1970s (not to be confused with the Marvel Universe version, one assumes). Because of this experience, Basiago says that he has glimpsed the future, and is certain that he will win the presidency sometime between now and 2028. (Time travel is evidently kind of iffy on the details.)

And while it’s tempting to ridicule Basiago because most of his claims are nonsensical and doubtlessly untrue, there are definitely the makings of a great sci-fi tale with his supposed life story. “Chronovision” technology that allows you to see into the past or the future? A “Mars jump room” program that allows “chrononauts”–only powerful insiders, of course–to teleport instantly to Mars? Possibly hoaxed lunar landings and a U.S. government cover up of extraterrestrial life?! No, we probably won’t vote Andy 2016, but somebody let this man write a book already!

If you want to hear all of these claims straight from the time-traveling man himself, you can check out one of his speeches in the YouTube video below. Most of it may not be true, but then again, when have we ever expected politicians to be honest?

What do you think about Andy Basiago’s presidential bid and his wild claims that he’s a chrononaut time traveler who’s been to Mars? Does he already have the Bigfoot vote? Can he deliver on his promise to provide “Moon transparency”? Is “Basiago Bold” possibly the real name of a spicy cheese that you’ll buy once but never really enjoy?!
