ALIEN’s Xenomorph Gets a Terrifying Funko Pop from Entertainment Earth (Exclusive)

Yes, folks, once again it is Alien Day—April 26, in honor of planet LV-426, where Ridley Scott’s acid-spewing extraterrestrial monsters were first discovered… depending on how seriously you take the various prequel timelines of Alien Vs. Predator and Prometheus. Everyone has favorite and least favorite movies among the bunch, but one thing we should all agree on is that xenomorphs rule; the H.R. Giger creation has been modified only slightly over the years because it’s a stone-cold classic of a movie monster. In fact, one could argue that it’s hard to be scared any longer by something we’ve come to love so dearly. Which leads us to cute Aliens, something the folks at Funko are certainly aiming to deliver.

Entertainment Earth‘s exclusive Funko Pop reveal today is a xenomorph based on the 1992 Sega Genesis Alien3 game, with a blue and orange highlight color scheme that previously inspired a NECA figure, and a sculpt that replicates the look of a 16-bit pixel character.

Absent the usual smooth body shape and big black eyes—for obvious reasons—this xenomorph cuts a distinct figure among Funkos. It might make you go “Awwww” rather than “Ahhhh!” but other game characters like Mario had certainly better watch out. You can’t just stomp on this threat to make it go away.

It may be creepier than your average Funko, but the little guy is a somewhat successful case of cutification. For a critter that bleeds acid and busts people’s chests open, that’s quite the achievement.

How will you be celebrating Alien Day? In comments below, let everyone hear you scream out whatever’s on your mind.
