I’ll be frank. Sports is lame. Even with the RPG aspect that Fantasy Football provides, I simply can’t bring myself to care. Sad to say, I’m a dyed-in-the-wool (legacy generation) Nerd till I die…which may be sooner rather than later now that I’ve gone and proclaimed animosity towards the Universal Sports-Game League of America (USGLA), an entirely fictional but wholly inclusive and pan-representational entity, denoting all the things that I’ve stubbornly refused to understand the appeal of.
But here’s something that makes mince meat of these piddling complaints:
Sgt. Adam Sniffen, badass representative of the 101st, dive-bombing a Michigan vs. MSU game, with game-ball in hand and hitting the X on the field like he was playing a casual at-home game of Operation.
This is Sports I can believe in!
And because I can’t get the damned song out of my head after the mere mention of it, I hereby spread my curse unto you:
That was really badass!
Wow, I’ve never actually seen what it takes to guide your parachute onto a target before. It looks challenging.
Yeah, sports fans ARE nerds. Just nerds for stuff that hasn’t had the outcome decided, for the most part. There’s really not much difference, and the two are really not mutually exclusive anymore, especially with the aforementioned boom of fantasy sports.
This nerd/jock divide has gone on too long, let’s break down the walls, truth is, we’re are all dorks.
Wow! What an amazing skydive video. I went sky diving for my 3oth birthday. You know how people will say it’s a great way to face your fear of heights? It’s not. I still have nightmares.
two words: GO BLUE! (even tho they lost that game pretty badly. 🙁 still tho. go blue)
There’s no reason you can’t be a nerd, like me, and still follow a sports team. I think the same basic principal drives both nerds and sports fans: the act of caring too much about something. Maybe. Who knows.
It would have been a real somber start to the game if his chute didn’t open.
Oh and if X marks the spot, does O mark the tops?
I can watch a football game here and there, but as a nerd I have a greater appreciation for the talents of individuals as opposed to teams. If I have to watch a competition, I’d prefer a skateboarding competition, or WRC or Ninja Warrior or really any kind of Japanese game show. Hockey, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball… bleh. Blarf. Whorf. I’d rather eat Kimchi in a construction site outhouse 2 hours after the roach coach rolled through.
