Wunderkind Maddie Ziegler Returns in Sia’s ‘Cheap Thrills’ Video

A couple weeks back, Sia’s dance wunderkind Maddie Ziegler joined the cast of So You Think You Can Dance. Her role? Find the next Maddie Ziegler dance prodigy—who better to find the most Maddie-esque dancer than Maddie herself?

For those that feared this might mean the end of Ziegler’s Sia collaborations, fear not. For the first time since December—when the tandem appeared on Ellen for a rendition of “Alive”—Sia and Maddie are together again. Recently, the singer shared a video for “Cheap Thrills,” which features a trio of industrious young dancers, and Ziegler is smack dab in the middle.

Wearing a cream-colored leotard and the two-toned, black-and-white Sia wig, Ziegler romps and rollicks through the heavily choreographed routine. It’s as demanding as any of her Sia performances, and rife with the same jerky, celebratory moves that make them all so memorable. Ziegler and Co., dancing on a stage in front of a purple screen, are phenomenal. The whole piece is innovative as hell.

“I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight / I don’t need no money / as long as I keep dancing,” sings Sia atop her powerful, anthemic pop.

As good as it is, it kind of begs the question: would Sia have all those dollar bills in the first place if not for her 13-year-old mini-me? Sia is super talented, but it’s the collaboration that makes the act so unique. As long as Ziegler keeps dancing, neither of them will “need no money” ever again.

What do you think? Best Sia/Maddie collaboration we’ve seen so far? Let us know what you think in the comments.
