A hungry woolly mammoth has allegedly been caught on film in Siberia by a government-employed engineer last summer. Thought to be extinct for over 4,000 years this woolly mammoth seems to be alive and well. The site reporting this, The Sun, claims “its hair matches samples recovered from mammoth remains regularly dug up from the permafrost in frozen Russia.” How come every time someone catches a woolly mammoth, ghost or Bigfoot on cam itâs always blurry? Donât they have HD in Siberia? Do you think this is the real deal, or is it just Mr. Snuffleupagus getting some salmon for dinner?
@DRUNKHULK
WOOLLY MAMMOTH VIDEO WAS HOAX! DRUNK HULK STILL
BELIEVE IN YOU MR SNUFFLEUPAGUS!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Drunk Hulk sez it to be false then false it is. Oh I totally believed!!! Well, not really.
It’s a hoax:

It looks like a bear holding a fish by the tip of the fishes tail. Someone was probably like “holy shit a bear” *video tapes it* “Holy shit it looks like a harry elephant” *trolls*
That or it’s a new species of Pokemon. Those are the only 2 answers I am willing to accept.
CGI. It just looks wrong to me.
OR, a very small mammoth…
Whatever it is, paleolithic diet proponents are drooling.
It is definitely a furry quadruped alien with a mutant salmon in it’s mouth headed back to the ship for genetic testing and mind switching experiments. Case closed.
It’s the planet Venus shining on a weather balloon filled with swamp gas and then viewed through heat distortion.
UN-FAKE-ABLE!
Oh wait, nope, I just faked it in After Effects while I was typing this.
TOTALLY FAKE!
Ah the sun, journalism at it’s finest.
It is not a mammoth. Mammoths have giant tusks and no where in that video were tusks visable.
It would be more believable if there was a giant walking with it.
I think it may be a bear, but then again I just saw Hitler in shorts.
Well scientists have found DNA of mammoths or their close relatives and plan on impregnating a elephant with the egg with it. Also the water doesn’t look quit right near the base of the animal in the video either that or my lazy eye is misleading again 😀
This was worth watching for the music at the end.
That’s not a mammoth! That’s a Sasquatch! [/sarcasm]
This article title is very misleading. I understand you’re just passing on the quite frankly shoddy reporting by The Sun, but all the evidence is one fuzzy video of some kind of large furry mammal crossing a river? And Ian’s second post is exactly right. If they got close enough to take hair samples, they definitely got close enough to get a much better shot.
Argument for mammoth: One fuzzy video and a vague claim of hair samples that seems unlikely to be true given the lack of a close up shot
Argument against: We have zero evidence of any living mammoths in the last 4000 years and now the Sun’s article is asking us to ignore that and accept that there is a sustainable population of wooly mammoths living in Siberia, meaning that there would be at least hundreds, and likely thousands of wooly mammoths that have gone completely unobserved by any person for 4000 years. But hey…there’s a fuzzy video of a furry thing.
I agree with all of these comments! It’s both a bear with a trunk-like fish, and possibly real!!!
Although, why wouldn’t it’s trunk be furry? and why did they feel safe enough to get hair, but not, say, tranq it and bring it to a lab, this is Siberia, we all know they could.
guys…it’s a bear with a salmon give it up. a mammoth would have been MAMMOTH sized.
Wait… they took hair samples? How did they not get a closer shot of it then?
I’m not saying its a mammoth but it looks HUGE if its a bear. If thats a fish in its mouth it seems weirdly elongated and to move strangely and yet… it does seem more like something in its mouth than an attached trunk.
Bear with fish, without a doubt, first thing I thought…
PLEASE BE REAL
