Wonder Woman Leads the Team in the Latest JUSTICE LEAGUE Photo, and More Movie News

Believe it or not some movie news arrived this weekend that didn’t take the form of a Super Bowl trailer, including a new photo of the cast of Justice League, an extended trailer for the science-fiction epic Life, an update on Pitch Perfect 3, and more. So toss all those empty beer bottles in the recycle bin, throw out that bowl of stale dip, and score a touchdown of your own with today’s Movie Morsels.

Justice League

It looks more and more likely that while Batman may be top strategist in the Justice League movie, Wonder Woman will emerge as the team’s leader in combat. At least that’s the case in the group photos we’ve seen so far from the film. And the latest offers an even more aggressively positioned Diana taking the lead. But just what are she, Aquaman, and Cyborg staring down? Something…alien perhaps?

Life

An intriguing trailer for Sony’s Life arrived online shortly before last night’s Super Bowl, but don’t fret if you missed it, because we’ve not got the much better expanded trailer for what looks like the 21st century’s answer to Alien. Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds star in the March 24th release…

Pitch Perfect 3

John Lithgow

John Lithgow, like John Goodman and Christopher Walken, is the best kind of character actor–one who makes every film in which he appears better. My interest level in the third Pitch Perfect film is fully renewed now that I know the veteran thespian (last seen in The Accountant, pictured above) is on board. Though we don’t yet know who Lithgow will play in the film, perhaps we’ll get to hear him sing. Because the dude can do damn near anything.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter

I won’t mince words–the trailer for The Blackcoat’s Daughter immediately places it in the front ranks of horror flicks I’m most looking forward to this year… Hey, remember when little Sally Draper, as played by Kiernan Shipka, went off to school and got into trouble with boys and smoking and stuff on Mad Men? Well, Shipka’s in a helluva lot more trouble at her latest school, where a creepy-looking Emma Roberts (who just can’t seem to get enough horror) awaits…

The LEGO Batman Movie

As good as some of last night’s Super Bowl trailers looked, there’s no film I’m looking forward to right now more than The LEGO Batman Movie, which hits theaters this week! In case you missed it, here’s the movie’s most innovative piece of marketing yet: a video tour of stately Wayne Manor on Gotham Cribs.

Beauty and the Beast

Beauty And The Beast

Finally today, we no longer need to guess what John Legend and Ariana Grande’s theme to the live-action Beauty and the Beast will sound like. Because Disney has put this “tune as old as song” online!
