We Have Questions for This Crazy WOLVERINE/HULK Image

Question: how much do Wolverine and the Hulk have in common? Both are Marvel Comics icons, and both are known for out of control berserker rages that do major bodily harm to any foolhardy goons who dare take them on—but could something else bind them together (and soon)? Despite being primarily an X-Men character, Wolverine actually first appeared in an issue of Incredible Hulk in 1974, so the ties these two characters share goes back a long way: so why is Marvel now mashing them up?

Marvel’s EIC Axel Alonso just tweeted out the following image which seems to suggest just that, but what do you think?

That…that definitely looks to be a Hulk/Wolverine hybrid in some kind tank like the one Luke Skywalker was in at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back, right? Are Bruce Banner and Logan being brought back as a pair, spliced together in some crazy experiment? And if so, what would you call it? Wolverhulk? Hulkerine? LoBanner? Bruce Logan? Lean, Green, Adamantium Machine? Both characters’ legacies are being continued by family members and namesakes at the moment; X23 (soon to make her big screen debut in Logan) is the new Wolverine, while an older Logan from an alternate future is a member of the X-Men and She-Hulk is just going by “Hulk” these days (with teen genius Amadeus Cho is starring in the title the Totally Awesome Hulk)—pretty convenient, timing-wise, for such a hybrid, right? But as popular as these characters are, we all knew Marvel would bring back the originals at some point, right?

Could they be doing this now because both characters are currently very dead in the Marvel Universe? Logan got killed off in the 2014 Death of Wolverine mini-series, while the Hulk took an arrow to the head from Hawkeye in Civil War II this past year, so we can’t help but wonder: is Marvel planning on bringing back both heroes at the same time, possibly in an unusual way?

Like we said, we have questions.

What do you think Marvel has in store for these two icons? And do you have any theories as to what the image means? Let us know in the comments below?
