WITCHER 3 Expansion BLOOD AND WINE Will Be Geralt’s Final Adventure

Within the world of The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia a.k.a. the White Wolf is a monster hunter of unparalleled skill and power. Despite his prowess, even Geralt’s story has an ending. Senior CD Projekt Red writer Jakub Szamalek has indicated that Blood and Wine, the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3 will be Geralt’s last story as the main character.

The wording of Szamalek’s statement appears to leave some room for Geralt to appear as a supporting character in future Witcher games or expansions. The storyline for Blood and Wine reportedly sends Geralt to Toussaint, a newly playable region that “will take Geralt to a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret.”

According to the description on Steam, Blood and Wine will feature a 20 hour campaign. During his interview with Eurogamer Italy, Szamalek noted that Blood and Wine will introduce fans to a new charismatic adversary who will oppose Geralt. He also confidently said that Blood and Wine will be even better than the main game, thanks to feedback the development team received from fans.

The first Witcher 3 expansion, Heart of Stone, was released last October to critical acclaim;  the main Witcher 3 game was also on several top 10 lists for 2015. Blood and Wine doesn’t currently have an announced release date, but it is expected to debut within the first half of 2016.
