Winona Ryder: BEETLEJUICE Sequel Happening

Beetlejuice may finally be getting its long awaited, and desperately hoped for, sequel. Winona Ryder said on Late Night with Seth Meyers she think she “can confirm it” because director Tim Burton said in an interview that the sequel was happening and that “Winona’s gonna be in it.”

Ryder said that talk of a sequel seemed very “hush-hush” until Burton, while doing press for his movie Big Eyes, said that the Beetlejuice sequel was happening. Both Keaton and Burton have said in the past that they hoped to make another Beetlejuice movie, with Burton even saying that a script existed.

While not exactly the most concrete confirmation in history, it does let the wild speculation run wild as to who could return to reprise their roles from the 1988 original film. Obviously a sequel would not be possible without Michael Keaton in the title role, and Ryder seems set to once again play Lydia Deetz. Will Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis return to their roles as the deceased Adam and Barbara Maitland’s? Will Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones once again play the Deetzs, Lydia’s parents? Could you even have a Beetlejuice movie without Otho, played by Glenn Shadix? (No.)

Even with so few details at this time, Beetlejuice fans will surely hang their tiny head shrunken hats on anything they can get.

Which characters would you be most excited to see in a Beetlejuice sequel? Let us know who and why in the comments below. But you’ll have to post it three times before it will show up. (Just kidding.)
