Winnie-the-Pooh and Friends Look So Freaking Adorable in CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Trailer

As if it were an adorable Rorschach test, peering deep into the Hundred Acre Woods can teach you a lot about yourself. It can offer a glimmer into your anxiety via Piglet, your depression via Eeyore, your mania via Tigger, your obsessiveness via Rabbit, or your… well I guess Kanga was pretty even-keeled, all things considered. But more than that, it’s a realm that seems to affirm that no matter what ails ya, you’ll be a welcome fixture in its grassy embrace. As tough as it is to reproduce sincerity of this caliber in today’s cynical world, the new trailer for Christopher Robin really does seem to capture that same feeling when it brings its full-grown title character back to the Hundred Acre Woods to reunite with his old stuffed pals—most notably, Winnie-the-Pooh.

The trailer, which seems to suggest that the movie will split its time between adventures in the woods and those in contemporary London, is riddled with your standard wacky fish-out-of-water gags, such as Tigger misunderstanding the concept of (of all pieces of modern technology) a mirror. But it’s also got that unmistakable sweetness that has made Winnie-the-Pooh such an important, invigorating, life-affirming character for decades going.

As tough as it is to cut through the sardonic coating of the present day, Christopher Robin at the very least aims to do it, with a traditional premise and some familiar, beloved characters. Do you think it looks like it’ll do the trick? Let us know if you plan on crying some happy tears at the theater!
