Will Peter Jackson End the Time Wars on DOCTOR WHO?

As the current season of everyone’s favorite show starring a time-travelin’ alien draws to a close, news about the next season of Doctor Who is already hitting the interwebs. This week, after years of rumors that Peter Jackson—himself a lifelong fan of all things Whovian—would one day direct an episode of the BBC series, we have confirmation that the director of the beloved Hobbit and Lord of the Rings franchises will be stepping up to direct an episode next year.

The announcement came in the form of a one-take video posted to Jackson’s Facebook account, and featured an in-character appearance by Peter Capaldi himself. Now that we know Jackson will be tackling an episode, it’s high time we start speculating what kind of episode he’ll be bringing to the screen. The director has a history with horror, and some of the most praised episodes of the Time Lord’s adventures are the scary ones, so it would be rather exciting to see the maestro of Middle Earth return to his roots. Or, will the epic director stick to what he does best and orchestrate the culmination of seasons (and decades) worth of tension-building, bringing the Time Wars to an end with a monumental on-screen battle?

Join Dan Casey as we discuss why the Lord of the Rings director might be the best choice to direct the long-anticipated conclusion of the unending rivalry between the Time Lords and the Daleks on today’s Nerdist News.
