Why INTRUDERS Will Terrify You …And The Other Person Living Within You (Wait What?)

We all have those moments where we say or do something that surprises, shocks, and/or confuses us. What if those weren’t just random moments, but actually a greater truth hidden in plain sight with a deeper meaning to it all? Even more unsettling a thought: what if the reason for that was that there were actually two people inhabiting every body, complete with a secret society who oversaw it all? Essentially bringing people back from the dead and into your body — whether you wanted it to happen or not. Well if you’re into that sort of terrifying hypothesizing on the nature of human existence then BBC America’s latest, Intruders, will definitely be for you!

We spoke with the cast and crew down at San Diego Comic-Con, positing that very notion to stars Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion), John Simm (y’know, The Master from Doctor Who? And also Life on Mars), and James Frain (True Blood, The Tudors), in addition to series creator Glen Morgan (The X-Files, Final Destination 3) and executive producer Julie Gardner (Doctor Who, Torchwood). Needless to say, this one’s a thinker, folks.

For those not in the know, the series is based on Michael Marshall’s novel The Intruders, and follows three seemingly disparate tales of these dually run bodies and the secret society tasked with circumventing death thanks to this truly unsettling but fascinating immortality loophole.

Intruders, an 8-part series, premieres on Saturday, August 23rd at 10PM on BBC America.

Have you read the book? Intrigued by the series’ premise? Let’s discuss it in the comments because it’s fun!

Is it just me, or does this sound a lot like “The Host” only darker and not with aliens.  Unless this is aliens, since I’ve never read the book this show is based on I don’t know…
