A Girl has no name, but she does have a lot of drama surrounding what in the Seven Hells is actually going on with her right now. We mentioned it in the video as well, but just in case, we’re diving in deep to the Westeros Community Spoiler Pool, so if you’re scared of heights- turn back now! Game of Thrones season 6, episode 7: “The Broken Man” showed Arya finally breaking free from the faceless faction and happily booking passage aboard a ship headed home to Westeros. But of course, since this is Game of Thrones, she got straight up hijacked on a wistful thinking bridge by an old woman who turned out to be the Waif, who stabbed her multiple times until she flipped over the wall and into the water to die. Or that’s what they wanted us to think! Right? They can’t just kill Arya! So we’re diving into a few theories (some straight up bananas, some actually pretty possible) about what’s actually happening with the younger Stark daughter.
First, okay, maybe Arya did get a little caught up in the moment and let her stomach get all kinds of stabbed by the Waif. In this case, we’re gonna see her struggling and bleeding on the streets looking for some kind of helping hand. And who, out of all the people in town, might have the inclination to save a girl’s life? Lady Crane, the actress, is the only one who comes to mind! She does kind of owe her one. After all, Arya did save her life instead of kill her. While this theory isn’t the most exciting, it definitely makes a ton of sense.
But if Benioff and Weiss want to mix it up, we’ve got some crazy theories too! Like what if this wasn’t even a test for Arya at all? And this is just some crazy messed up plot that Jaqen had to prove whether the Waif was trustworthy or not! What if it’s him in an Arya mask getting stabbed to prove the Waif isn’t ready for this type of job at all?! It’s a little out there, but still something that’d be super fun to see.
That brings us to my favorite theory! The Revenge Theory. Arya was all but walking around town with a big ol’ ‘Stab Me!’ sign on her stomach, so what if this is all part of her grand plan to get the Waif to think she’s dead so she can exact revenge on her, assassin-style? This one makes the most sense to us! Arya Stark is a brilliant fighter, she’s evaded death countless times, so why would she now, of all times, just when she’s almost in the clear, risk it all? Because she has a badass plan she’s just waiting to enact against the Waif.
And lastly, the most popular theory of the week is the Tyler Durden theory: what if Arya and the Waif are the same person?! What if they’re two halves of the same spirit fighting to gain control over the other and become the whole? It might even make sense. Jaqen always waits for the Waif to leave before he’ll speak with Arya, and the Waif always seems to know when Arya is lying. Also it might be a little more fulfilling knowing that there’s more going on with the Faceless Men are that they’re more than just assassins for hire. Now, we know these theories are vast and most of them might not make it into the show, but we do know one thing for sure: whatever’s about to happen in Braavos is going to be straight up nuts.
But what do you guys think? Do you think Arya’s been planning this all along? Do you even think that was Arya getting stabbed? Is Arya about to enroll in the Lady Crane school of acting? Let’s discuss!
