“Weird Al” Yankovic Has Finally Done a HAMILTON Polka Parody!

Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Hamilton has been such a phenomenon it’s hard to even remember a time when it wasn’t a part of our lives. However, can something truly be a smash hit if “Weird Al” Yankovic hasn’t parodied it? No, no it cannot. But now the Broadway musical has at last reached its final form, and it didn’t just get a parody song from Weird Al—it got one of his classic polka renditions!

The parody king’s fantastic new single, “The Hamilton Polka,” which is part of the series of covers for the musical known as the #Hamildrop, goes through the entire musical in only five frantic polka-infused minutes. The number includes snippets of tracks like “Alexander Hamilton,” “My Shot,” “Yorktown,” “Wait for It,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” and others.

We just about wore out our headphones listening to the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat for the last few years, but we doubt they’ll survive the workout they’re about to get with us listening to Weird Al’s version a million times. This is basically everything our nerd hearts have ever wanted.

The only surprising thing about this whole crossover is that we didn’t get it sooner. Not only because Hamilton was a true cultural sensation and therefore right in Weird Al’s wheelhouse, but because Yankovic and Lin-Manuel Miranda are actually good friends. In fact, Miranda has often talked about how much Weird Al influenced him, and specifically about how much he loves his polka tracks.

Obviously what we are going to need now is an Inception-style version of “The Hamilton Polka” where Miranda joins Weird Al on stage to sing it live. It’s not like he hasn’t done something like that before.

Even though “The Hamilton Polka” might have finally given the musical the only honor it was missing, a version of the song sung by both Weird Al and Lin-Manuel Miranda is something we just can’t wait to hear.

Which part of the song is your favorite? Tell us in the comments below.
