Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Dressed as Elvis for TONIGHT SHOW Performance

Weezer has always been big on shtick and novelty—without sacrificing musicianship, of course. The path to their latest record, The White Album, has been no different; in fact, it’s been an especially revelrous trip to this week’s long-awaited release.

The “Thank God for Girls” video was filled with outrageous cannoli explosions. The “LA Girls” clip was Baywatch-esque with plenty of growing pains. And the “King of the World” video—perhaps more fun than all the rest—is just a “king” running on a peer wearing a crown and drinking booze from a goblet. So, when Rivers Cuomo dressed in full Elvis garb for Weezer’s Tonight Show performance of “King of the World” last night, no one batted a lash.

The band pulled off a tight, veteran performance of the LP’s most anthemic single. They haven’t lost a step since their self-titled debut in 1994, and Fallon made note of that. “That’s how you do it right there! That’s how you do it!” he yelled after the performance, White Album in hand.

The new record is now available at iTunes and Amazon. Grab a physical copy at the band’s website or stream the album on Spotify. Weezer is also heading out on tour with Panic! At the Disco and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness beginning June 10.

Has anyone out there picked up the record yet? What do you think? Up to Weezer standards? Let us know in the comments. Full tracklist and tour dates below:
