We Meet the Men of Action Behind BIG HERO 6 and BEN 10

In the tradition of the great comic book studios of old — like Will “The Spirit” Eisner and Jerry Iger’s Golden Age syndicate and the fabled “The Studio” of the ’70s (consisting of superstars Bernie Wrightson, Jeff Jones, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Michael Kaluta) — there is Man of Action, the wildly successful collective of comic writers Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle. The four men have been responsible for countless titles over the years, for all manner of media — TV, films, comic books, and animation. But their best known work remains the hugely enjoyable Generator Rex and Ben 10 franchises, the latter of which is in development as a feature film from producer Joel Silver and Warner Brothers.

We caught up with all four of the men of Man of Action at last month’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, where they spoke to us in our studio about their many projects, including Seagle and Rouleau’s Big Hero 6, the Marvel superhero team that serves as the basis for this fall’s sure-to-be-huge CG-animated feature film from Disney. Before you make plans to visit the titular super-powered teens (and their robot Baymax, pictured above) in San Fransokyo, check out our video interviews with Man of Action. And let us know what your favorite works from these creators are below!

  1. It was unfortunate for the audio problem… besides that, it’s nice to hear some insights from the men themselves.
