Watch the Extended SCREAM QUEENS Opening Credits

Television writer/producer Ryan Murphy sure loves him some classic horror movies; not only does he love to rip off pay homage to many of the great scary movies of the past with his hit anthology series American Horror Story, but one can make a solid argument that Glee became something of a horror show after the third season or so. (I kid, I kid. Sort of. C’mon, I loved Glee too, but it got pretty bad.)

Now Murphy is about to pay tribute again to slasher movies of the past with his new Fox series Scream Queens. The show released its full opening credits sequence, which you can see above. (This is an extended version of the opening credits, since it’s highly doubtful the TV show’s credits will be a minute and a half long.) While I’m not quite sure how I feel about this show yet, I can say that the opening credits are a campy, fun delight.

According to the official synopsis, Scream Queens centers around “Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, which is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by Chanel Oberlin, played by Emma Roberts from American Horror Story. But when anti-Kappa Dean Cathy Munsch, played by the great Jamie Lee Curtis, the original “Scream Queen” herself, decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school’s trust fund babies, all hell starts to break loose, as a killer dressed in a devil mask begins a murder spree across the campus.”

The satirical and over-the-top Scream Queens is described as “part black comedy, part slasher flick and a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder… or could easily be the next victim.” Aside from the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis, who gives this production the same pedigree that Jessica Lange did for American Horror Story, other well-known names on Scream Queens include former Glee star Lea Michele, Zombieland’s Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd, who just so happens to be Carrie Fisher’s daughter.

Scream Queens launches with a two-hour premiere on Fox on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
