OK, so the apple doesn’t exactly get crushed, but that’s not the awesome part.
These are neodymium magnets being brought into contact by magnet sellers First4Magnets. They are the strongest kind of permanent magnets that you can buy commercially, and you can see that strength proved in the full video below:
But the really astounding part is how strong the magnetic fields are. Look at how part of the magnets break off during the seemingly instantaneous apple smash. Instead of all the pieces flying off into the air, some are pulled out of the air to stick on the magnets’ surfaces. Inverse cube law FTW!
that is some impressive science, you can tell because they’re wearing lab coats
Eh. First grade demonstration day. Or an advertisement for magnets.
It’s an inverse square law.
Gravity is an inverse square law. Light intensity drop off per distance is an inverse square. Electric field potential is an inverse square relationship of distance. Magnetism is an inverse cube law. It’s not a mistake, and that’s why it’s called out as interesting.
I wonder what will happen if I put my penis between the magnets.
Try it out. Remember to use safety glasses and gloves.
And someone else’s penis.
Misleading title
I want to see the magnets destroy each other. When against the apple and they came in contact with each other on the corner, it was so strong it fucking sparked and exploded a piece off of both sides.
What the hell are Rainbow Drops and Vimto juice!?
Rainbow drops are puffed rice with a sugar coating and Vimto is mixed fruit juice drink..its tastes fantastic 🙂
They’re both brands from the U.K.
there is vimto juice here in australia too.
