Watch Sculptures Come Alive with Projection Mapping Tech

Though sculptures capture only a single moment in time, they can speak volumes about what they represent. With a little creativity, we can imagine whole stories held in stone. If only they could come alive and tell us.

That’s where GOLEM, an art project from BK Digital Art Company in France comes in. Using the same kind of projection mapping tech that can give a woman digital makeup, BK projects subtle movements like eye blinks onto classical statues to bring them to life. The result is uncanny, and beautiful:

According to the installation description:

In this project we’re using an antic sculpture and video to create an uncanny feeling. Put life into an object. This work is based on the lack of life inherent of virtual imagery and classical sculptural art. Golem explores the thin line between virtual reality and real virtuality.

Seems pretty uncanny to me, but in a wonderful way. What do you think?
