Watch GHOST IN THE SHELL’s Water Fight Scene, and More Movie News

There’s never a better way to start your day than by watching Scarlett Johansson kick a little ass. That’s just what we’ve got for you in today’s Movie Morsels, with the latest clip from the live-action Ghost in the Shell. Plus, new footage from Valerian, a hilarious new Baywatch poster, and much more!

Ghost in the Shell

In the newest footage from Ghost in the Shell, we get to see Scarlett Johansson’s newly reconstructed Major take down a gunman in a filthy river set against a CG-ridden futuristic cityscape. It’s real pretty, if it a bit on the grey, muddy, and industrial side…

Also today, we have a new behind-the-scenes featurette that takes a look at director Rupert Sanders’ “vision” for the film. Does the Snow White and the Huntsman filmmaker have what it takes to bring Masamune Shirow’s original manga to live-action life? We’ll find out on March 31st.

The Handmaiden

Speaking of stories from the Far East… One of last year’s most acclaimed foreign films, Old Boy director Park Chan-wook’s latest The Handmaiden, didn’t play in nearly as many theaters as the latest Marvel blockbuster. So genre fans are strongly encouraged to give this erotic thriller a try when it arrives on Amazon Prime Video on April 13th. Here’s its trailer…

Robert Downey Jr. has officially entered that stage of his Johnny Depp-like career where he’s ready to take on a third major studio franchise. The actor is set to play the beloved Doctor Doolittle in The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle, based on the series of children’s books by Hugh Lofting (which led to the 1967 big budget musical called Doctor Doolittle). Syriana helmer Stephen Gaghan will direct this new adaptation for Universal.

Baywatch

Baywatch has never been the most subtle of properties, what with its nonstop parade of flesh tanned and toned to the peak of human perfection. So hats off to the latest poster for the film adaptation, which fully embraces the silliness of the franchise’s over-the-top sexuality…
