Watch Footage of Aziz Ansari’s New Netflix Stand-Up Special

Can I get a whoop whoop? The man we will always know as Tom Haverford from Parks and Recreation, Aziz Ansari, has gifted us with comedy once again. His original stand-up special drops tomorrow, March 6th on Netflix. The special was recorded at Madison Square Garden, a venue where Andrew Dice Clay became the only comedian to sell out two nights in a row in 1990. This place has some history and it is, no doubt, a suitable locale for one of the funniest people in America.

Like Clay, Ansari also performed in front of a sold-out audience, covering topics like his parent’s immigration to the West, the food industry, and gender inequality. In this clip the first generation American shares some of the hardships his parents had to endure living in a new country. Aziz starts off thanking his folks for leaving the motherland for great opportunity in America. He follows the heartfelt words with a series of laugh-out-loud jokes and stories.

Aziz notes that his parents chose a home state that “combines racism and horrible public schools.” Bang! He goes on to tease other first generation Americans who could never say “I came to Brooklyn with $20 in my pocket.” The comedian even admits he’d be out of money instantly. Aziz also touches upon the fact that his mom was newly married, scared and friendless when she started living in the U.S. His mom asked him if he’d ever had a moment where he was as scared and alone as she was. Leave it to Aziz to answer with the perfect comedic response, “NO, my life is super easy because you did all the struggling.” Priceless! Oh man, I can’t wait to watch the rest of this special. Don’t miss out!

My favorite comic working today. Love Aziz! Harris knows drama.

Saw him working this set out a while back. And by working it out I mean it was already perfectly polished and delivered. He even came on before Louis C. K. and there was no doubting who owned the night. Recommended.
