Watch Bryan Cranston Front a “Grown Man Boy Band” Called M3n Not Boyz

The main problem with boy bands is that, by their nature, they have a relatively short shelf life. Their members are boys, after all, and boys do eventually become men. Justin Timberlake was able to make the leap from boy band heart throb to universally respected musical figure by evolving his style, but what about the aging singers who still love the sultry-but-innocent sounds they made in their youth?

That’s when you get a “grown man boy band,” which is similar to a boy band except their lyrics deal with more adult issues, like signing a mortgage and making sure your vehicle’s tires are rotated on the regular. As James Corden put it on Thursday’s Late Late Show, they have “a whole new set of problems and totally different ways to love you.” With age comes experience, and isn’t an experienced man desirable?

That’s the belief of grown man boy band M3n Not Boyz, which features Bryan Cranston, Corden, and Reggie Watts.

“Hey girl, now I know you’ve been with boys before, but now you’re all done with that,” Cranston says in the opening of his trio’s new single, “I Can’t Be Your Boy (Cuz I’m A Grown Man).” “You need someone who’s going to be there for you, someone who’s going to stand up for you. Someone who still doesn’t believe in ATMs or emojis. You need a grown man.”

If Cranston’s fauxhawk doesn’t rev your engine, especially when he’s driving you home “in a bad-ass snow storm,” then frankly, we’re not sure what will.
