Watch Adele’s “Hello” Sung by a Bunch of Movie Characters

Adele’s “Hello”, the global mega-smash that it is, has been covered to death at this point. Some of the renditions have been worthwhile, like James Corden and Billy Eichner’s parody, and Sir David Attenborough wonderful narrated version.

But now, many more stars have covered the song, including Harry Potter, Ali G, Barney Rubble, Borat, Han Solo, Rocky Balboa, Ron Burgundy, Homer Simpson, Big Bird, and many others. These television and movie stars from across the vast entertainment spectrum have come together thanks to YouTube user Matthijs Vlot, who created a creative cover of “Hello” using dialogue snippets from a bunch of different movies and TV shows.

There’s something super empowering about this, and we’re not entirely sure what it is. The song itself is a force obviously, but the way the clips come together to form a cohesive whole is sort of haunting. Maybe it speaks to how entertainment is more interconnected than is sometimes obvious, that perhaps entertainment, with its pure intentions of bringing joy, is a beautiful thing. Or maybe we’re just thinking too much into this because we’re happy to see so many familiar faces in one place.

Aside the aforementioned figures, we also see Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jerry Lundegaard from the Fargo movie, Luke Skywalker, Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Trinity from The Matrix, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gonzo, Lumiere, Pumba… there are a lot of people, so watch the clip above and let us know in the comments who you spotted that we didn’t identify. Do you think this mashup works?
