Watch a Heartwarming ANT-MAN Father’s Day TV Spot Now!

A few months back, I interviewed the always busy, unflappably perky Judy Greer about her role in this summer’s Ant-Man. And Greer was near ecstatic as she described to me what she felt was the main element in the film that distinguishes it from all other Marvel Studios movies, and indeed almost all superhero movies in general, thus far.

Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, Greer explained, doesn’t become a hero to save the world or his city, or even win the hand of his romantic interest. He becomes one because he wants to be a hero for his daughter. A short while later, I spoke with the film’s co-star Evangeline Lilly, who explained to me that that her character, Hope van Dyne, is defined in part by her own relationship with her father, scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who built the original Ant-Man suit, and who was so caught up in his work that he didn’t give her the affection she wanted as a child. Yes, it appears that the film is very much about dads and their daughters.

So it’s entirely appropriate that Marvel has released a special Father’s Day Ant-Man TV spot, the highlight of which is the adorable moppet (Abby Ryder Fortson) who plays Scott Lang’s little girl, Cassie. I mean, seriously, who wouldn’t want to fight a supervillain or two for this munchkin?!

We’ll see if Ant-Man has as much heart as this TV spot when director Peyton Reed’s film opens on July 17th. In the mean time, let us know below what you think of this latest ad.
