Whether they’re taking on MiGs from an anonymous country or saving the universe from the Galra Empire, every maverick fighter pilot needs a teacher who can school them on being a small part of something bigger. So when we needed a substitute Top Gun instructor, we called in someone we know can form a formidable team of brave heroes: Voltron‘s Princess Allura.

Kimberly Brooks was the latest guest on our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons, and she joined host Rob Paulsen in reading the scene from Top Gun when Tom Cruise’s Maverick couldn’t help himself from being a smart-ass know-it-all while sitting in on the lecture of Kelly McGillis’ Charlie. It’s a good thing Brooks’ Allura can command a room, because it isn’t easy to whip a smug young fighter pilot—or a cheeky Pinky—into shape. (We know Allura wants to protect the people of the galaxy, but we’d sooner hand over the entire universe to Lotor than deal with a maverick Pinky.)
