Voldemort HARRY POTTER Fan-Film Explores Tom Riddle’s Lost Years

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince gave us some of the backstory of how Tom Marvolo Riddle became Lord Voldemort, and we know he spent years killing innocents wizards and witches to create horcruxes out of important magical artifacts. Yet there is so much we don’t know about the time period when the infamous Dark Wizard left Hogwarts and rose to power. But a new fan-film has set out to answer what happened during those mysterious lost years, and even if Voldemort: Origins of the Heir isn’t an official Harry Potter movie, it has all the elements we love in one.

We first told you about the movie’s trailer back in May, and it comes from the production company TRYANGLE. Written and directed by Gianmaria Pezzato, it follows the original character of Grisha Mac Laggen, heir of Gryffindor, as she battles Riddle over the death of another wizard.

“What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back? There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: the rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise.”

There are elements of the film and Voldemort’s story Harry Potter fans will instantly recognize, but the real fun here is in seeing an interpretation of things we didn’t know about Tom Riddle’s transformation. Not to mention how for a non-profit film made purely out of love, it looks great, with big budget quality special effects.

But even if it didn’t, it has the one element we need from any Harry Potter movie: a chance to be reminded why we love it in the first place, even when it’s about the character we hate the most.
