Visit Istanbul’s BREAKING BAD-Themed Coffee Shop

You know how everything about Walter White’s life was awesome and great except for the meth, the cancer, the dealing with sociopathic gang leaders, and constant, wanton violence? But, like, the cooking in a nice, clean lab and making sweet science was super awesome? You’re not the only one who thinks that way; there is now a Breaking Bad-themed coffee shop and cafe in Istanbul, Turkey, called Walter’s Coffee Roastery which has kept the nice parts of Heisenberg’s working life and replaced all the bad stuff with delicious coffee, meat, and confections.

Walt's Roastery 1

Walter’s Coffee Roastery, which might be my favorite name for a business of all time, began in March of 2015 and its founders bill it as the “world’s first Coffee Super Lab” (those words are capitalized on their Facebook page). They serve traditional American food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, with vegan and vegetarian options, natch. Their coffee is 99% pure, just like Walt’s product, and are brewed in stainless steel containers.

In fact, the Roastery’s whole vibe is designed to be just like the inside of the big lab underneath the dry cleaners. All the roasters wear yellow hazmat suits and gas masks (for show), they cook up blue rock candy in cookie sheets for customers to buy, and there’s even a giant Periodic Table of the Elements on the wall. It’s a pretty awesome place, and if you happen to be in Moda Istanbul, it’s probably the first place you should go, singing the Turkish version of “Crystal Blue Persuasion” the whole way.
