Explore RICK AND MORTY’s Rickstaverse on Instagram

Something you may or may not know about Nerdist is we LOVE Rick and Morty. Like a lot. Like maybe too much. Some unnamed members of the staff may have sold their car and most of their replica Cylon collection to purchase a very fetching cubic zirconia engagement ring, knowing full well Rick and Morty would never say yes to even the most heartfelt of proposals. We get it, and we don’t resent anyone.

Anyway, we love the show, and we’d love to be able to travel around different worlds and dimensions with Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, but since we’re not animated, we probably can’t. However, the next best thing is a new Instagram game from Adult Swim entitled Rickstaverse.

It’s a series of images of places to visit, and when you tap it and the tags come up, you can then tap on those tags to be transported somewhere completely different. It’s like a rabbit hole of worm holes. You can travel to Gazorpazorp if you want, or you can go to Anatomy Park via the nipple of giant, dead, naked Ruben in a Santa hat. You can even check out the mysterious Citadel of Ricks wherein all the multiverse’s Ricks have coalesced and formed a governing body. Pretty creepy, right!

Rickstverse_AccountAs a social media experiment, Rickstaverse is actually astounding. Each account is set up to look like a map, and inside each picture the tags warp you to other maps. There are dozens of accounts and hundreds and hundreds of pictures. It’s an awesome feat from an awesome show.

Like in the episode “M. Night Shaym-Aliens,” there’s no telling how many levels deep this goes. And, as Rick says in the video above, it’s not canon, it’s just fun. And really, what better way to spend the hours until Rick and Morty returns to us on Sunday, July 26th, on Adult Swim?

Let us know the weirdest and/or most esoteric thing you find in the Rickstaverse below!
