Video Essay Explorers the Most Beautiful Shots in Disney Film History

Have you ever crossed paths with someone who inexplicably doesn’t enjoy animation? One of those people who, for whatever reason, strikes a big black mark through anything that isn’t live-action and shuffles everything else into the nebulous genre of “cartoons,” as if it’s a dirty word? Well, whenever you find yourselves in the company of those people again, you need only to show them this compilation of the most beautiful shots from Disney films.

The Most Beautiful Shots in The History of Disney from Jorge Luengo Ruiz on Vimeo.

This supercut of gorgeous Disney moments was compiled by video essayist Jorge Luengo Ruiz and brought to our attention by a recent post on IndieWire, It’s remarkable to think about the decades of films that have made us laugh, cry, and feel so many different emotions, and to feel them all over again with these quick glimpses of their worlds. Disney’s ability to become so ingrained in our minds that we can access a feeling we had or a memory we made at the time by seeing only a few frames is something quite special.

In addition to giving us the eye candy of nearly a century of expert film making, Ruiz tied it all together with a wonderful piece of music by composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. And, thankfully, he also listed (in chronological order) every film he used in case there’s a few that might stump you.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Pinocchio (1940)
Fantasia (1940)
Dumbo (1941)
