Verizon’s go90 App as Explained by the Music Videos of the 1990s

Verizon is launching a free video app called go90 on Thursday, which will be free to all iOS and Android users. The community-focused app that allows users to watch and share their favorite video clips with their friends, including exclusive content from Mythbusters, Comedy Central, DreamWorksTV, Funny or Die, Vice News, and Nerdist, to name a few. The name, go90, refers to turning your phone 90 degrees in order to watch videos in widescreen mode — in other words, “going 90”.

While the thought of learning about yet another app may seem daunting to the uninitiated, we took it upon ourselves to create a handy-dandy music video that explains what go90 is and what it does through the music videos of the 1990s. That’s right, I’m talkin’ Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Alanis Morissette, Spice Girls, Nine Inch Nails, and so many more.

In fact, here’s a comprehensive list of all the music videos we parodied, so you can check our math. And once you’ve finished doing that, be sure to check out go90 for all manner of awesome sketches, music videos, parodies, and exclusive content from your pals here at Nerdist.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away”

Will Smith – “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”

Backstreet Boys – “I Want It That Way”

Ricky Martin – “Livin’ La Vida Loca”

Alanis Morissette – “You Oughta Know”

Temple of the Dog – “Hunger Strike”

Los Del Rio – “Macarena”

Spice Girls – “Wannabe”

Nine Inch Nails – “Closer”

go90 is now available in the iTunes Store and on Google Play.

What kind of stuff would you like to see from Nerdist on go90? Which music video parody was your favorite? Which ’90s music video do you wish we had included? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
