Vanilla Ice and Coolio to Headline Upcoming ‘I Love the ’90s’ Tour

The ‘90s are in that awkward stage where pretty much nothing about them are cool. Remember puberty when you really, really wanted to be cool but just ended up being a supremely awkward teenager around a gaggle of other supremely awkward teenagers? That’s the ‘90s. They’re too recent to be vintage; their “innovative” technologies are already hilariously outdated (and also just hilarious), and something about them is just too close to home—probably the memory of those godforsaken jumpsuits and cargo pants still sitting in a bucket in my parents’ basement.

While I try to forget, though, there are many trying to revive the ‘90s more salient trends—namely the music. Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Salt-N-Pepa, Rob Base and a slew of other ‘90s artists have just announced that they’ll embark on the first ever “I Love the ‘90s” tour this spring.

Perhaps this is what the decade needs to make it nostalgia-grade vintage, because a lot of these artists’ influence cannot be so easily discounted. “Gangsta’s Paradise” remains as relevant today as it was in 1995, and say what you will about the plagiaristic “Ice Ice Baby,” but here we are in 2016 and it’s still clinging to the airwaves. So, grudgingly, here’s to the ‘90s! Maybe the second edition of “I Love the ‘90s” tour will even make it to some major market cities—check out the tour below, and let us know how you feel about the ‘90s in the comments:
