TV-CAP: Wil Wheaton Has POWERS, NBC Grabs MIDNIGHT, TEXAS, and More!

It’s Friday; time for another TV-Cap before we head into the weekend! As we say goodbye to October, Star Trek: The Next Generation icon Wil Wheaton picks up his first comic book TV adaptation, The Muppets get good news, USA’s werewolf drama adds a genre veteran, NBC picks up the newest project from True Blood’s author, the Arrow/Constantine team up episode brings more pics, Gorilla Grodd returns to The Flash, and Norman Reedus gets his own reality show!

The Wil To Power. The second season of Powers on Playstation Network has already grabbed Michael Madsen and Tricia Helfer. Now it’s adding Wil Wheaton! In a post on his blog, Wheaton wrote that “All the specific details are locked down with an NDA, but I start work soon, and I’ll hopefully be able to share some things from the set once I settle in, like who is directing my first episode (someone I’ve been dying to work with for decades!)”

In Sony TV’s official announcement, Brian Michael Bendis added that Wheaton’s currently unknown character is “exciting, mysterious and powerful.” Not only that, the character may also make his way into the Powers comic by Bendis and his long-time collaborator, Michael Avon Oeming.

The Muppets

Yay! Kermit Arm Flail! The Muppets revival may not have been as huge as ABC and Disney hoped for, but it’s still ranked as Tuesday night’s highest rated new show. So, ABC has bumped up the first season order by 3, to give The Muppets a full 16 episodes. Its companion series, Fresh off the Boat, received the coveted back nine order for a full season of 22 episodes. [Deadline]

Clea Duvall

She Doesn’t Bite…We Hope. IDW’s little known werewolf comic, Brooklyn Animal Control has a pilot episode coming together on USA Network. Former Carnivàle star Clea Duvall has joined the pilot as Madeleine Holmlund, the oldest daughter of her werewolf clan’s leader…and the heir apparent to her throne. [TVLine]

Midnight Crossroad
Everything’s Bloodier in Texas. True Blood may be over, but author Charlaine Harris’ newest book series, Midnight, Texas already has a home at NBC. The TV show is based on Midnight Crossroad, the first book in Harris’ series and its two scheduled sequel books. According to the network, Midnight, Texas is a place where “the real world and the supernatural collide in a dangerous, sexy, place full of dark secrets and mysterious people. It’s a small town where asking the wrong question or overstaying your welcome could get you killed.” But it will probably not be as bloody or hedonistic as True Blood. Because it’s broadcast TV, not HBO. [Entertainment Weekly]

John Constantine 2

John Constantine 3

John Constantine 4

The Canary is Out of the Bag. As viewers of Arrow know, the Canary a.k.a Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) just hasn’t been right since her sister, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) brought her back from the dead in a Lazarus pit. And since Sara is on the loose and slightly murderous, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is calling in a favor from John Constantine (Matt Ryan). The CW has released new pictures from next week’s highly anticipated episode of Arrow. But enjoy it while you can. This is a one-time only deal.

Flash-Grodd-040115
Gorilla of My Dreams. We know that Danielle Panabaker has a cold future ahead as Killer Frost later this season on The Flash. But first, Panabaker’s Caitlin Frost will have to deal with the return of Gorilla Grodd! “I think in season one you got to see just a tiny bit of her relationship with Grodd,” explained Panabaker. “You’ll get to see a little bit more of that and understand their connection from before. He’s got some unfinished business with her, I’d say.” [The Wrap]

Norman Reedus Bike

Daryl Dixon’s Big Adventure. You know what would be awesome? A reality show starring Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon as he rides the backroads of The Walking Dead’s zombie apocalypse while exploring motorcycle culture. But I suppose a reality series with Reedus as himself in the real world will be okay too (just not quite as fun). AMC has picked up six episodes of Ride with Norman Reedus for early 2016. [Nerdist]
