Whoa jeez, television — slow your dang roll! Because it’s only Wednesday and we’re already overwhelmed by all the news coming out of Hollywoodland in relation to our small screen obsession: TV. Hence why today’s TV-Cap is a downright doozy. You’ve been warned, my friends: we’ve got heaps of stuff to cover — so let’s just get right to it, shall we?
Transparent‘s Sexuality: Discussing and dissecting the fluid nature of sexuality is handled so beautifully in Amazon’s Transparent. (We’ve already watched all 10 episodes because we have NO self-control when left to our own devices.) This video from the series’ Facebook page about how they do that — and the people that ensure it — is pretty great.
Kaitlin Olson Joins New Girl: And she’s going to be dating Rob Reiner (really)! I’m starting to wonder if the appearance of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actors on Fox shows isn’t some sort of synergy/awareness plan on the part of Fox (both FX and Fox are owned by the same company, because of course they are look at their names — doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out) for awards season (Sunny is always so woefully overlooked), but I don’t hate it, because everyone on Sunny is the best. Like Kaitlin Olson, who chatted up Jessica Goldstein in this interview about her part on the Zooey Deschanel series. [Vulture]
MTV Nabs Zach Braff: And I wonder aloud, “Why hasn’t this pairing happened sooner?” He’s going to direct a show called Self Promotion. [Deadline]
Oprah, Are You Watching This?: Every time a new Broad City anything appears in the world my heart swells sixteen sizes and a smile permanently attaches to my face. Is there anything better than Broad City right now, though, for real-real (a.k.a. not for play-play)? This latest installment of their mini-webisodes, Hack Into Broad City, is a goodun. But particularly this one because of the reference to that amazing “Calling all the Basic Bitches” video which had made me cackle with glee for years now.
FX is The Best: Thank goodness to all things that are sacred and/or lucky or whatever, FX has renewed both Married and You’re The Worst, the latter of which is being sent to hang with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FXX. So hooray for both of those shows — but mostly You’re The Worst because like we’ve already said, it is kinda/sorta the best. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Dominic Cooper’s BACK: As Tony Stark’s daddio, Harold Stark, in Agent Carter. OooOoOoooooOOoOh! [Nerdist]
Another Period? Sounds Great!: Everything about Comedy Central’s 10-part series, Another Period, sounds fantastic. Sort of like The Spoils of Babylon, but different. I mean look at the names involved alone: Natasha Leggero, Riki Lindhome, Michael Ian Black, Paget Brewster, Beth Dover, Brett Gelman, Jason Ritter, Armen Weitzman, David Koechner, Brian Huskey, David Wain, Lauren Ash, and Chris Parnell. I MEAN… [Deadline]
Mindy and Elmo Get Enthusiastic: Everyone deserves a little bit of pure, unadulterated cute in their lives, don’t they? OF COURSE WE DO! We are humans with eyes and ears and minds and hearts and sometimes the latter of that list needs to be lifted. So here’s something to do that.
It’s a Sad Day in this Community: Yvette Nicole Brown will no longer star on Community. BIG SAD, everyone! [Nerdist]
