TV-Cap: THE FLASH Casts a Female Speedster, GOLDBERGS Go DIRTY DANCING, and More

Today’s TV-Cap is a shining example of the variety of stories airing on television now and in the near future. You want comic books? Great! We have a story about The Flash casting its first female speedster. You want family sitcom? We have you covered with a featurette for Fuller House. Fantasy? Kit Harington has a Game of Thrones Jon Snow update. Dirty dancing? ABC’s The Goldbergs is going there. Keep reading—there’s something for everyone.

Making Fortunes. ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff is moving ahead with casting. Marvel’s Most Wanted, which features Mockingbird and Lance Hunter, has cast Delroy Lindo. He’ll play Dominic Fortune, a character from the comics who is an adventurer motivated by dollar bills. [Variety]

Queenly Zingers. Game of Thrones’ Cersei Lannister has a way with words, and Lena Headey has a way with delivering them. She makes every syllable drip with venom. Headey appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, and she read some insults from The Bachelor as Cersei and it’s damn hilarious. It makes me want to hire Cersei impersonators for parties. [TVLine]

Right On Course. The Flash hosts an impressive line-up of speedsters, but they’re finally adding a woman to the list. Allison Paige will appear on the series as Eliza Harmon, a.k.a. Trajectory. She’ll appear in the 16th episode this season. Who else loved Paige in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries? [Nerdist]

No More Jack. Though I’m convinced Kiefer Sutherland could play Jack Bauer at any age, Fox’s new 24 spinoff is going to focus on another character. 24: Legacy will follow Eric Carter, and he’ll be played by Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton). Fox has only placed an order for the pilot so far, and it will find former Army Ranger Eric pulled back into action. No matter what he did in his past, he has big shoes to fill. [Nerdist]

The Facade Cracks. The stakes rose in the direction of the roof in the latest episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter. Whitney Frost’s recent transformation began to take its toll on her, Howard Stark returned, and we learned a little more about the Arena Club. It was a busy night. Read my recap of “Better Angels.”

Going Home Again. What do you want to know about Netflix’s Fuller House? A behind-the-scenes featurette will tell you everything. The cast talks about the joy of getting back together and going home again. Basically, the video will play on every warm and fuzzy feeling you had about the original series. Fuller House debuts on Netflix on February 26. [Nerdist]

Can I Buy Donuts? A store that is devoted entirely to The Simpsons is set to open in Beijing and Shanghai. It seems long overdue. You can find Simpsons-themed shops inside Universal theme parks, but Beijing’s new outlet will going to be a whopping 2,700 square feet and filled with approximately 200 Simpsons products. I hope they have a bakery and convenience store attached. [Comic Book Resources]

Time of Their Lives. ABC’s The Goldbergs has made its share of references to movies from the 1980s. This season, the inevitable Dirty Dancing homage hits the series. (Completely unrelated to ABC’s remake of the film, of course). I hope they re-create all the memorable musical moments from the classic. Yes, Dirty Dancing is a classic. [Deadline]

Warning: Spoilers follow for Game of Thrones. Like, stop reading now.

Weighing In. Again. People involved with Game of Thrones keep insisting Jon Snow is dead—including Kit Harington. It’s hard to believe him since set photos have surfaced showing a very-much-alive Snow at work, but he told Digital Spy, “People didn’t want me to die, but he’s dead. So there you go, everyone has to get used to it.” He added he hasn’t filmed Thrones in a while. I still maintain he’s not permanently dead, just dead at the moment. [Nerdist]

Did Kit Harington’s comments change your Jon Snow theory? Let me know in the comments.
