TV-Cap: Superman to Appear in SUPERGIRL Next Season

Who else is still thinking about Lyanna Mormont’s debut in Sunday’s Game of Thrones? We talk about the best new character in today’s TV-Cap, and don’t worry, there’s plenty of stories for those of you who don’t watch Thrones. You can learn about Superman coming to season two of Supergirl, finding which role Ian McShane is ready to reprise, learn about the runtime for the Outlander season two finale, and more.

Not Just a Chat Buddy. Superman won’t only appear via instant messenger in season two of Supergirl. Series producer Andrew Kreisberg announced, “Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!” Kreisberg specifically calls out the first two episodes, and beyond that, I wouldn’t expect to see Supes much, nor do I want to. It’s Kara’s world, and we’re just living in it. [Nerdist, Image: CBS]

Anyways. Does the world need more of Ian McShane as Al Swearengen? We SO do. McShane played the memorable character in HBO’s Deadwood and recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about how ready he is to play the character again. You can read his comments (they’re curse-free and everything) here at Nerdist.

Bring It. Amazon has scooped up five more new pilots, and we find two of them particularly interesting. There’s Carnival Row from Guillermo del Toro, Travis Beacham, and Rene Echeverria and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from Amy Sherman-Palladino (creator of Gilmore Girls). Carnival Row is a supernatural tale set in a future that looks like London in the 18th century. Mrs. Maisel centers on a “1950s housewife who decides to be one of the first female standup comics.” Learn more about the pilots at Deadline.

Powering Up. The stakes in season two of Sony’s Powers are high. Retro Girl has been killed, and the game is afoot. In the above video, Dan Casey talks to stars Olesya Rulin and Logan Browning about what’s ahead for their characters and their stories. [Nerdist]

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the most recent Game of Thrones.

Intimidating Girl. Lyanna Mormont, the 10-year-old leader of House Mormont, made quite the impression on the most recent Game of Thrones. Jon, Sansa, and Davos went to see her to ask for the allegiance of House Mormont, and Lyanna was all kinds of amazing. Alicia breaks down everything we know about Lyanna right this way.

Let the Dog Out. Sunday’s Game of Thrones brought the return of a fan favorite character: Sandor Clegane, a.k.a. The Hound. He was trying to lead a nonviolent life, but the Brotherhood without Banners screwed that up. Jessica Chobot breaks down what Clegane’s return could mean for the story in Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

You’re out of Westeros spoiler territory now.

Animated Life. Justice League Action made an appearance at the Kre8tif! animation conference earlier this month… sort of. Artwork shown at the conference seems to reveal character designs for the upcoming animated series. You can see Big Barda, Shazam, Harley Quinn, and more in the images shared by Batpedia. Keeping It Real. Voltron is a name that brings up piles of memories for many people, and when DreamWorks Animation and Netflix decided to revive the universe, they were aware of that. Kyle Anderson talked with Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim dos Santos about staying true to the spirit of Voltron in Voltron: Legendary Defender, and you can read their interview here at Nerdist.

The Open Road. If you don’t have time for a road trip this summer, you can hitch a ride with The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. He’s starring in AMC’s Ride with Norman Reedus, and the series follows Reedus around the country on his motorcycle as he catches up with guests and explores biker culture. See an extended sneak peek above and tune in when the show premieres on June 12.

Going Out with a Bang. Outlander’s second season is going to end on a dramatic note and a longer one. The finale, airing on July 9, will be 90 minutes (the above photo is from the episode). And it will introduce Brianna and Roger. I don’t want to spoil what that means for those who haven’t read the books by Diana Gabaldon, but it’s rather exciting. [TVLine, Image: Starz]
