TV-Cap: POWERPUFF GIRLS Premiere Date, THE TICK Reboot Update, and More

Welcome to the end of the week, everyone. You deserve a short break on this fine Friday so take a minute to catch up on the latest and greatest in the world of television. Today’s TV-Cap has the premiere date for the new Powerpuff Girls series, an update on Amazon’s reboot of The Tick, news for the season two cast of MTV’s Scream, and more.

Townsville Heroes. Is there room for more superheroes on TV? The answer to that question is pretty much always going to be yes. That’s good because Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, a.k.a. The Powerpuff Girls, are coming back! A new cartoon starring the adorable trio will premiere on Cartoon Network on April 4 with back-to-back episodes. If you’re at SXSW though, you’ll be able to see the debut early on March 14. [Nerdist]

What Does It Mean? The official Arrow Facebook page recently posted a picture of Felicity/Overwatch holding a T-Sphere with no real explanation; it was posted with a blurb about how the latest episodes of Arrow are free to view on CW’s website “so you can Overwatch to your heart’s content.” Is it just about going for the pun, or does it mean something more? Regardless of what it means, it’s a snazzy picture. [Comic Book Resources, Image: The CW]

All the Shows. Warner Bros. TV is bringing a chunk of their slate to WonderCon in Los Angeles at the end of March. They’ll have panels featuring Containment, iZombie, The 100, Teen Titans Go!, and Legends of Tomorrow. Cast members and executive producers will participate, and it’s likely some of them will do signings. WonderCon takes place on March 25-27 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Get the whole schedule at IGN.

Nope, Nope, Nope. HBO is making a documentary called Beware the Slenderman, which as you may guess, is about Slenderman. The urban legend started as an Internet meme and the tale grew from there, ultimately leading to two girls blaming Slenderman for their murderous actions. The poster for the documentary is freaking me out enough that I know I can’t watch it, but if you’re braver than I and at SXSW, you can catch it on March 11 at the Topfer Theatre. HBO will air it eventually, but the date hasn’t been announced. [Nerdist, Image: HBO]

Shaking It Up. Season two of MTV’s Scream will have new showrunners and six new faces for the cast. Michael Gans and Richard Register will take the helm of the story, which picks up with Willa Fitzgerald’s Emma returning to Lakewood. Scream will return on May 31. Get the complete rundown of new cast members at The Hollywood Reporter.

Add Your Face. The Hall of Faces in the House of the Black and White is arguably one of the creepiest things that has appeared in Game of Thrones so far—and that’s saying a lot. The location has figured heavily in promotion for season six (it’s coming back on April 24!), and you can visit thehalloffaces.com and add your own mug to the options. See an example featuring Michael above. [Nerdist]

Another Hero! Remember what I said about no such thing as too many heroes? Keep that in mind because Amazon is moving forward with a pilot order of a reboot of The Tick. Patrick Warburton sadly can’t return because he has other work commitments, but Ben Edlund and Barry Josephson are on board. New cast members include Griffin Newman as Arthur Everest and Valorie Curry as Dot. The actual blue-suited hero hasn’t been cast just yet. [Nerdist]

Family Reunion. Netflix’s upcoming comedy The Ranch has Sam Elliott, Ashton Kutcher, and a laugh track. A trailer sets up the tone and story: Kutcher plays a former football star who returns home to Colorado to live on the family ranch with his dad, Elliott, and his brother, played by Kutcher’s old That ’70s Show costar Danny Masterson. Huh. The show will drop on April 1. [Slashfilm]

Play It Again. Did you watch your favorite series last night? Relive the happiness and joy with our recaps of The 100 (an uprising!), Legends of Tomorrow (Vandal Savage made tuna casserole!), and Vikings (Winter Solstice!).

What do you think of The Tick without Patrick Warburton? Head to the comments to share your thoughts about that or anything else in today’s TV-Cap.
