TV-Cap: Jack Harkness Returns in TORCHWOOD Audio Plays, BREAKING BAD Restaurant Could Become Real, & More

May the 4th be with you! Today is Star Wars Day and we’ve had some big reveals about The Force Awakens today, but there’s other news happening in the galaxy too. No, really! Let’s dive right into the latest bullet points in the world of television: Breaking Bad’s Los Pollos Hermanos could open for real, Torchwood returns via audio dramas, Matt LeBlanc relives some classic Joey moments, and more.

A Black Widow Movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is hugely lacking in one regard: there’s no solo Black Widow movie. I’d go so far as to call it criminal. Scarlett Johansson hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend and one of the many fabulous skits was a trailer for a Black Widow film. The parody is hilarious, but also sad because it hits a little close to home. Feel free to review the rest of the SNL highlights within Clarke’s recap.

Accounting and Demon Hunting. Demon hunters come from all walks of life in ABC Family’s upcoming Shadowhunters series. The show, based on the Mortal Instruments books by Cassandra Clare, has found two more cast members. Simon, the accounting student and musician who fights demons alongside the lead Clary Fray, will be played by Alberto Rosende. The lethal Shadowhunter Isabelle will be played by Emeraude Toubia. Something Delicious. Could you imagine driving over to Los Pollos Hermanos and ordering piles of fried chicken? It could actually happen. Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan said in a Reddit AMA that there is talk of Pollos Hermanos “becoming a real restaurant.” I think the lines would stretch out the door, and that Walter White cosplayers would show up in droves. Ah, Memories. Remember the musical talents of Joey Tribbiani on Friends? Of course you do because how could you forget? Matt LeBlanc hasn’t forgotten either. He recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show and admitted to remembering songs from the first season, when Joey was in a musical called Freud. He then he sang one and goes on to perform the Hand-Twin song. I applaud LeBlanc for rolling with it, and love the part where he explains the context of the Hand-Twin song to fellow guests Rebel Wilson and Kit Harington. [Vulture]

Sniffles and Laughter. All great things must come to an end, apparently. And to that end, Samantha Bee said goodbye to Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show at the end of last week. She’s been working as a correspondent on the series since 2003, making her the team member with the longest history. She’s off to host a comedy show of her own on TBS, so it’s not the saddest thing ever. Even so, her farewell is still a bummer. An amusing bummer though, since her goodbye video is full of funny highlights from the last 10+ years. [Deadline]

Getting Answers. ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars is back for Season 6 on June 2, and a promo from TVLine paints a twisted, intense picture. The tease promises that this season will bring a “summer of answers.”

Meta Sculpting. Bart Simpson has taken a new form in New York City: the cartoon has gone bronze. The voice of Bart on The Simpsons, Nancy Cartwright, sculpted a bust of Bart as Bartman, and Fox liked the bust so much that they commissioned a mold of her sculpture. The craziest part of this? Cartwright has only taken a single sculpting class. What? She spent 20 hours on the piece of art. [Vulture]

Charm Incoming. Few characters are as suave as John Barrowman’s Captain Jack Harkness. The equal opportunity alien had some exciting adventures in Doctor Who and Torchwood, and his story isn’t over just yet. Torchwood will be returning in the form of six audio dramas thanks to Big Finish. And yes, Barrowman will provide the voice. My ears can’t wait. [Nerdist]

War in Gotham City. Does Gotham City ever get a moment in the sun? The darkest of cities is currently the home of a gang war, and we’ll see who ends up on top in the Season 1 finale of Gotham. “All Happy Families Are Alike” airs tonight at 8:00pm ET/PT on Fox, and if the teaser is to be believed, things are going to explode—figuratively. Well, maybe literally too. We’ll see. [CBR]
